Pregnancy symptoms before a missed period
![]() |
Most girls and women consider a missed period as an early sign of pregnancy but it is even possible to identify pregnancy before a missed period. Let us read about some possible signs to suggest pregnancy before a period.
During ovulation, there is an increase in basal body temperature (body temperature during rest) and this can be noticed just two days after the ovulation. It is worthwhile to note here that the implantation process of the fertilized egg happens around 6-12 days after ovulation.
Some of the other ways to identify pregnancy before a missed period are enlargement of nipples, increase in breast size, and breast tenderness. The areola (dark area around the nipples) increases in size and gets more darkened than normal due to release of many hormones.
During the sixth week, pregnant girls and women can experience “morning sickness“, which is characterized by vomiting and nausea because of release of increased amounts of hormones.
If you have noticed any of these signs, it is time for you to get yourself tested with the home pregnancy test. In case the result of pregnancy test is positive, it is recommended that the same should be confirmed by seeking a qualified medical opinion so that you can plan your diet, lifestyle, and health schedule accordingly so that both you and the baby are in the best shape. It is also recommended that you do not listen to every advice coming your way but only to reliable advice coming from a medical practitioner.
